Waterfalls in Bali

31 Magical Bali Waterfalls to Add to Your Bucket List

The island of Bali is packed with incredible waterfalls around every turn. In this post, we lay out 31 magical Bali waterfalls that you should add to your bucket list.

Bali Waterfalls: Know Before You Go

Before you start to explore Bali’s most famous waterfalls, here are a few things you should know:

What To Pack

Exploring waterfalls oftentimes requires traversing rivers and walking steep inclines.

If you plan to visit waterfalls in Bali, I highly recommend getting a sturdy water shoe. This will give you stability while hiking, allow you to explore deeper and further, and save you from any possible falls.

My go-to water shoes are theClorts Water Hiking Shoeswith quick-drying mesh and durable soles.

Do Your Part

Bali is currently being overrun with plastic and trash. Please do your part to keep Bali clean. On any waterfall hike, pack out whatever you pack in.

20 Northern Bali Waterfalls

If you’re looking to explore authentic Bali, you must make your way up north. Northern Bali is where all the crazy adventures hide, including throngs of charming waterfalls.

Some of these waterfalls are already a hit among tourists while others fly under the radar. Take a peek at the best northern Bali waterfalls.

Sekumpul Waterfall + Fiji Waterfall + Hidden Waterfall

Perhaps the most photogenic and impressive of all the Bali waterfalls is Sekumpul Waterfall, located at the northern tip of Bali near Singaraja.

Find Sekumpul and its sister waterfalls, Fiji and Hidden Waterfalls, at the bottom of 350+ steep stairs.

The hike down to the falls is difficult, but the real challenge will be getting back up those stairs! Be sure to pack enough water, proper footwear, and a towel.

巴厘岛的瀑布——SekumpulWaterfall

Take a dip in the pools at the bottom of Sekumpul or Hidden Waterfall after your long trek down. Although the water is cold, it is quite refreshing and a great way to relax your muscles.

Continue on with your trek to enjoy the quieter waterfall of the bunch, Fiji Waterfall.

A major deterrent for hopeful waterfall-goers is the entrance and local guide fee. Last year, entering Sekumpul Waterfall was possible without a trekking fee and local guide.

The rules have changed and whether they are government regulated rules or a way for locals to make money, tourists must now pay an extra fee.

Sekumpul Waterfall Price(Per Person)

125,000 rupiahs ($8.75 USD)

Sekumpul Waterfall Know Before You Go

As you drive up to Sekumpul Waterfall, there will be several “checkpoints” for waterfall explorers. Do not stop at these registration points. Continue on until you get to the actual entrance for the waterfall.

Sekumpul Waterfall

If you’re hesitant about visiting this waterfall based on the possible scams in the area, hire a local driver to take you there or go with a small tour group. You can find local drivers through your accommodation.

Pro-Tip:我们听见从其他旅行者是可以explore Sekumpul Waterfall without a guide if you tell the entrance workers that you are only going to the restaurant. Since I have not done this, I can’t say whether this will be successful or if it’s even ethical.

Sambangan Waterfalls (Aling Aling Waterfall + Kembar Waterfall + Kroya Waterfall, and Pucuk Waterfall)

If you’re looking for a crazy adventure, the Sambangan Waterfalls might be the most insane experience on the entire island of Bali. Spend your time cliff-jumping, sliding down the falls, or lounging in the waterfall pools.

This cluster of thrill-seeking waterfalls is located approximately two hours north of Ubud; it includes Aling Aling Waterfall, Kembar Waterfall, Kroya Waterfall, and Pucuk Waterfall.

Best Bali Waterfalls - Aling Aling

Cliff-jumping is one of the most popular activities in the area. Take a leap from 5 meters, 10 meters, or 15 meters above the pools.

Pro-Tip:Based on the threat of danger, a guide is required for those looking to jump, slide, or go canyoning in these falls.

Sambangan Waterfalls Price(Per Person)

你可以雇一个导游follo入口处wing prices: 125,000 rupiah ($8.75 USD) for the short trek, 250,000 rupiah ($17.50 USD) for the medium trek, or 500,000 rupiah ($35 USD) for the long trek.

If you’re looking for the cliff-jumping experience, I would suggest hiring a guide for the short trek.

Bali Waterfalls

Add a trip to the Blue Lagoon and local rice terraces by hiring a guide for the medium trek.

The long trek is much more extensive and will take 5-6 hours in total with fun stops all around the area.

You can also book a tour before you go to these waterfalls through Bali Sun Tours. The tour I recommend is calledPrivate Waterfalls Adventure of Northern Bali.

Not only are you paying for an expert guide, but you are also paying for hotel pick up and a roundtrip ride up to the falls in northern Bali.

Air Terjun Tembok Barak

The drive and trek to Tembok Barak are arduous, but the views here are worth the effort.

You can find this waterfall 10 minutes down the road from Aling Aling Waterfall, but if you aren’t confident on a motorbike, I wouldn’t suggest making the drive.

Driving to Tembok Barak Waterfall requires traversing a very thin road that is lined with steep ravines on either side. Always take caution when driving motorbikes in Bali and if you are hesitant, I recommend searching for an alternative waterfall.

Air Terjun Waterfall Price(Per Person)

10,000 rupiah ($0.70 USD)

Air Terjun Waterfall: Know Before You Go

Air Terjun Tembok Barak is an extraordinary waterfall to visit in Bali, but take note that it is impossible to get there during rainy season. The high river and washed out roads make it increasingly dangerous; the risk isn’t worth it.

Git Git Waterfall

Approximately 17 kilometers south of Aling Aling waterfalls, you’ll find Git Git Waterfall. Git Git is a popular waterfall among tourists based on its beauty and height, so I suggest getting there early.

Git Git Waterfall

走到瀑布是简单和品系ghtforward, but be aware of the slick rock and slippery sections of the trek.

Git Git Waterfall Price(Per Person)

20,000 rupiah ($1.40 USD)

Git Git Waterfall: Know Before You Go

“Local guides” will often tell tourists that hiring a guide is necessary for this waterfall. They will charge travelers 300,000 rupiah per person to enter, however, guides are unnecessary for this location.

Bali Waterfalls

I would suggest telling them that you have been here before and you don’t need a guide.

Munduk Waterfall + Melanting Waterfall + Golden Valley Waterfall + Gobleg Waterfall

On your way back from exploring Git Git Waterfall, be sure to make a stop at the most incredible group of waterfalls in Munduk.

Munduk Waterfall, Bali

Northern Bali is a dream; a refreshing escape from the tourist traps in the south. If you want to get a feel for what northern Bali is all about, Munduk is the place to be.

In the small village of Munduk, high up over the mountain pass, you’ll find four waterfalls tucked away in the dense jungle.

These Bali waterfalls, Munduk Waterfall, Melanting Waterfall, Golden Valley Waterfall, and Gobleg Waterfall, are all in close proximity to each other, making it a fun day trip to visit all four.

Munduk Waterfall Price(Per Person)

20,000 rupiah ($1.40 USD)

Munduk Waterfall: Know Before You Go

Assuming you’ll be arriving by motorbike, you’ll need to park your bike in the Munduk Waterfall parking lot. It cost us 2,000 rupiah to park.

The parking lot can be a bit difficult to find because the steep grade makes it hard to focus on anything other than driving. At one of the switchbacks, you’ll find the parking lot perched on the side of the road. Park here and start your adventure.

From Munduk Waterfall, make your way down the path through the lush jungle. The walk to Melanting Waterfall is a bit far but it’s a beautiful stroll. During our trek, the cicadas were so loud that we could barely hear ourselves talk!

Melanting Waterfall, Bali

You’ll also find many cute cafes along the path to Melanting Waterfall. These cafes offer great refreshments on a hot Balinese day. Follow the signs for the second waterfall, climb down the many stairs, and behold.. a beautiful and peaceful waterfall.

Melanting Waterfall Price(Per Person)

10,000 rupiah ($0.70 USD)

From Munduk Waterfall, you can also adventure to another incredible waterfall called Golden Valley Waterfall.

The walk from Munduk Waterfall to Golden Valley Waterfall is about 1-2 kilometers along the river. As with any other waterfall on this list, I would suggest wearing proper footwear.

Accessing Golden Valley Waterfall can also be done by car. Use the Eco Cafe as a landmark; Golden Valley Waterfall sits just below this popular lunch spot. Enjoy a cup of local coffee, a cheap bite to eat, and an amazing waterfall view at Eco Cafe.

Golden Valley Waterfall Price(Per Person)

No fee

Last but not least, we have Gobleg Waterfall. This waterfall is a bit more difficult to find. Follow the path from Munduk Waterfall past Taman Ayu Restaurant for approximately 20 minutes. Cross the small bridge and soon you’ll arrive at your fourth waterfall of the day.

The signs for Gobleg Waterfall are certainly lacking so I suggest bringing a map or asking the locals.

Gobleg Waterfall Price(Per Person)

10,000 rupiah ($0.70 USD)

Jembong Waterfall

Tired legs from climbing up and down tons of stairs to reach these Bali waterfalls? Here’s a waterfall that requires very little effort once you reach the parking lot.

Jembong Waterfall, situated in northern Bali near Munduk, has adventures for the entire family. Here, you’ll find a flying fox (zip-line), a swimming pool, and a gorgeous waterfall.

Take caution when driving into the parking area for Jembong Waterfall; the narrow road is unsuitable for more than one car, but you’ll be surprised by how many drivers challenge this!

Wanagiri Pucak Manik Waterfall

A perfect hidden gem, Wanagiri Pucak Manik Waterfall flies under the radar compared to other popular waterfalls in the Munduk area. If you’re looking for peace and tranquility, add this waterfall to your list.

Wanagiri Pucak Manik Waterfall offers a smooth 15-minute walk down to the main waterfall and many more hidden waterfalls along the same path. The well-maintained trail is much appreciated, so do your best to stay on the trail and always pick up after yourselves.

Pucak Manik Waterfall Price(Per Person)

30,000 rupiah ($2.10 USD)

Pucak Manik Waterfall: Know Before You Go

The best way to experience Wanagiri Pucak Manik Waterfall is by hiring a local guide. For a small fee, a local guide will lead you to many incredible waterfalls in this area. Be sure to bring your swimsuit; swimming will be possible at each of the waterfalls!

Blemantung Waterfall

Smell that? That’s the smell of delicious Balinese coffee wafting in the wind. At Blemantung Waterfall, you’ll be encased in this scent thanks to the beautiful coffee plantations nearby.

Blemantung Waterfall is known for being pure; the surrounding area is so clean and the water is so clear. With very few tourists visiting this waterfall, you’ll likely be the only one swimming in the pool below.

Nungnung Waterfall

Situated one hour straight north of Ubud is Nungnung Waterfall. Be sure to arrive early(9am)if you want this waterfall to yourself. It is a popular destination for tourists because it is a must-see in Bali.

As one of Bali’s best waterfalls, don’t let the trek down to the falls scare you away. Stairs are plentiful but it is worth the effort to reach this enchanting waterfall.

Nungnung Waterfall - Bali Waterfalls

Bring your swimsuit but beware of the power of Nungnung waterfall. Swimming could be dangerous at times.

Nungnung Waterfall Price(Per Person)

10,000 rupiah ($0.70)

Cost of Parking

2,000 rupiah

Nungnung Waterfall: Know Before You Go

At Nungnung Waterfall, you are bound to get soaking wet. The powerful chute of water douses everything in sight. I suggest bringing a dry bag or leaving personal items at your guesthouse.

If you’re looking for an even better experience, make your way behind the waterfall; the view from behind the waterfall is unlike anything you’ll see in Bali.

Banyumala Waterfall

Rivaling Sekumpul Waterfall for the most epic views is Banyumala Waterfall. In my opinion, Banyumala is the epitome of Bali. While there are hundreds of Bali waterfalls scattered around the island, you won’t find one quite as beautiful as Banyumala.

Banyumala Waterfall - Bali Waterfalls

Take your motorbike or a car up over the mountain pass to the northern tip of Bali.

When approaching the parking lot for Banyumala, be aware of the tough terrain. For us, it was difficult to ride our bikes down the narrow path. If you aren’t an experienced motorbike driver, I suggest walking or having a car take you down to the trailhead.

Getting to Banyumala Waterfall early is key. We arrived at around 8:30am and had the waterfall to ourselves for about an hour. Arriving any later than 9am, you’re sure to face crowds of people due to the waterfall’s popularity.

Banyumala Waterfall Price(Per Person)

30,000 rupiah ($2.10 USD)

The water is absolutely freezing but definitely worth a swim!

Air Terjun Yeh Mampeh

Find Air Terjun Yeh Mampeh in the small village of Les, in the northeast corner of Bali. Yeh Mampeh Waterfall might just be the most secluded waterfall on this list, but it definitely deserves to be on your Bali bucket list.

This is a perfect place to experience nature and the purity of Bali. With so many tourists flocking to the island and so much pollution, finding this kind of beauty is difficult.

Yem Mampeh Waterfall is a great place to relish in a natural shower under the waterfall or spend time meditating. You’ll likely be the only tourists here, so take it all in!

Yeh Mampeh Waterfall Price(Per Person)

20,000 rupiah ($1.40 USD)

Padangbulia Waterfall

A short jaunt from Singaraja is Air Terjun Padangbulia, another hidden gem waterfall in the northern jungles of Bali. The road to Padangbulia Waterfall is well-maintained by locals, however, the waterfall itself can be unpredictable.

Depending on when you visit Padangbulia Waterfall, the flow of water may be ridiculously strong or extremely weak. Be prepared for either of these conditions.

If the water appears to be too powerful, I wouldn’t suggest going down to the base of the falls. From the stairs, you’ll be able to determine if the waterfall is out of control or safe to approach.

Padangbulia Waterfall Price(Per Person)

No entrance fee

11 Bali Waterfalls Near Ubud

Ubud, Bali. The cultural hub of the island. This is where travelers flock.

Ubud can be an amazing experience but it can also be overwhelming. If you’re looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of Ubud, consider taking a day trip to one of the numerous waterfalls in the area.

Bali Waterfalls Near Ubud: Know Before You Go

Personally, I wouldn’t swim in the majority of the waterfalls near Ubud. The water tends to be dirtier than the waterfalls in northern Bali.

With that said, the falls near Ubud are absolutely stunning and are still worth a visit.

Goa Rang Reng Waterfall

We found this waterfall on the way back from Tibumana Waterfall. Unlike Tibumana, there were no other visitors at Goa Rang Reng Waterfall, which made it even more special.

Walking down to the falls, be careful of the slippery stairs. Wearing proper footwear for this waterfall is essential because you’ll be able to explore more of the surrounding area.

Goa Rang Reng Bali Waterfalls

Climb the ropes on the left side of the waterfall to reach the top. We loved sitting at the top of the falls and getting a natural massage from the flowing water. The canyon behind the waterfall is also a sight to see!

Goa Rang Reng Price(Per Person)

10,000 rupiah ($0.70 USD)

Goa Rang Reng: Know Before You Go

I suggest hiring a local guide for this waterfall. We were able to explore a bit of the canyon without a guide but would have liked to explore even more.

A local guide will take you to many different waterfalls in the area, into the canyon and caves, and down the river; an unforgettable experience.

Tibumana & Bangkiang Djaran

Tibumana is one of the more popular waterfalls in the area.

A five-minute walk down from the parking lot will lead you to a river. Follow the river to the left to find Tibumana Waterfall. I suggest getting there early if you want to beat the crowds!

Although this is a hot spot for travelers, escape the crowds by taking the trail down to the right. Here you will find a small waterfall and a nice place to jump in the river if you choose!

Tibumana Waterfall - Ubud, Bali

Tibumana Waterfall Price(Per Person)

15,000 rupiah ($1.05 USD)

Tibumana Waterfall: Know Before You Go

There is a restaurant near the parking lot for Tibumana Waterfall. Grab an ice cream treat to cool yourself off on a hot Bali day!

Nearby you’ll find Bangkiang Djaran Waterfall.

You can access this off-the-beaten-path waterfall by following a deep gorge down the river. At Bangkian Djaran Waterfall, you’ll be able to swim and find many small waterfalls by walking and exploring the area.

Bangkiang Djaran Price(Per Person)

10,000 rupiah

Tukad Cepung Waterfall

Quickly rising in popularity, Tukad Cepung Waterfall might be the most unique waterfall I have ever seen. Like many Bali waterfalls, you’ll want to arrive early to have the entire place to yourself.

Tukad Cepung Waterfall, Bali

From the parking lot, walk down into the canyon and along the river. The trek will take approximately 10-15 minutes and you will have to walk through water and over rocks. Be sure to wear proper footwear to avoid any falls on your walk.

For more information about Tukad Cepung Waterfall, check out my recent blog post:6 Things To Know Before Visiting Tukad Cepung Waterfall.

Tukad Cepung Waterfall Price(Per Person)

15,000 rupiah ($1.05 USD)

Tukad Cepung Waterfall: Know Before You Go

On the ride up to Tukad Cepung, there will be many sacred temples. If you wear appropriate clothing, you can explore these incredible temples.

Leke Leke Waterfall

A one hour drive from Ubud will lead you to Leke Leke Waterfall, another unique Bali waterfall to add to your bucket list.

On the way to Leke Leke Waterfall, there is a coffee plantation, so I suggest stopping for a delicious cup of local coffee. At the waterfall, you’ll find a cafe for refreshments and cheap eats. Fuel up before adventuring down to the waterfall where swimming is optional.

You may also be keen on trying the giant swing close to the waterfall. The price might be a bit steep but it could fulfill all of your Balinese(and Instagram)dreams!

Leke Leke Waterfall Price(Per Person)

30,000 rupiah ($2.10 USD)

空气Terjun Besi Kalung

Besikalung is famous for more reasons than one. As stated in the picture below, Pura Besikalung offers a little bit of everything: beautiful nature, religion, and Balinese culture.

Located near the small village of Babahan, Air Terjun Besi Kalung is a small-town oasis. With many temples nearby and the stunning Babahan Rice Terraces, there is something for everyone in this small corner of Bali.

找到瀑布,你需要徒步沿着the river. The hiking in this part of Bali is exquisite, so take time to appreciate your surroundings. If you get lost, ask a local for directions. The local people of Babahan village are very friendly and warm.

Tegenungan Waterfall

Although Tegenungan Waterfall isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, I had to include it for its ever-growing popularity. So what is it about Tegenungan Waterfall that draws the crowds in?

This waterfall has been transformed into a tourist destination, just minutes from Ubud. Locals have set up a bar, a swing, and a restaurant that is constantly blaring loud music.

Tegenungan Waterfall - Bali

Sip on a drink at the bar while watching the kids swim in the waterfall or pay the 200,000 rupiah fee to ride on the swing for an Instagram picture.

This is a great place for families but beware of the crowds and murky water. In my opinion, this place is a little overrun, but don’t let me stop you from enjoying a good time!

Tegenungan Waterfall Price (Per Person)

20,000 rupiah ($1.40)

Pengempu Waterfall

放松Pengempu隐居的瀑布,轨迹ted 30 minutes from Ubud city center. Unlike many other Bali waterfalls, this waterfall is an easy walk from the parking lot.

Skip the Tegalalang experience and explore the lesser-known rice terraces near Pengempu Waterfall. Instead of being hounded for money at every turn like Tegalalang, these rice terraces are free, quiet, and vacant of tourists.

I highly suggest visiting Pengempu Waterfall on your way to other waterfalls in northern Bali. This is a great pit stop to break up your drive.

Air Terjun Kuning (Yellow Waterfall)

One of the most incredible Bali waterfalls on this list is Air Terjun Kuning, also known as Yellow Waterfall. Take a motorbike ride 40 minutes outside of Ubud to explore this private oasis.

Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted with a very dense jungle walk followed by a trek through a deep canyon. Instead of spending your time at a busy waterfall, I suggest adding Dusun Kuning Waterfall to your Bali bucket list where you’ll likely have the entire place to yourself.

Yellow Waterfall Price Per Person

15,000 rupiah ($1.05 USD)

Yellow Waterfall: Know Before You Go

The walk down to Yellow Waterfall can be very slippery after rainfall. Be sure to walk slow and watch your step.

Dedari Waterfall

On your way back from visiting Tibumana and Dusun Kuning Waterfall, make a stop at Dedari Waterfall.

Dedari Waterfall is popular among locals but goes mostly unnoticed by travelers. While visiting Dedari Waterfall, you’ll find two waterfalls in the same area. Take the bridge and climb the stairs to find the second waterfall, hidden among the dense rainforest.

There is also a sacred temple near Dedari Waterfall, which is worth a visit. Be sure to wear appropriate clothing if you choose to visit this temple.

Kanto Lampo Waterfall

Attention all Instagram-lovers! If you’re looking for the most Insta-worthy waterfall in all of Bali, look no further. Kanto Lampo is famous for its impressive view and even better photo-opportunity.

Unfortunately, the word has spread and Kanto Lampo Waterfall is no longer a hidden gem in Bali. You’ll want to arrive early in order to beat the slew of people. Showing up anytime after 10am will result in hoards of people and a long line to get a picture.

Kanto Lampo Waterfall

For me, pictures don’t do this place justice. I would rather take in the beauty of these falls than wait in line for a silly picture. If you’re like me, you might want to skip Kanto Lampo Waterfall altogether.

Arriving early has worked for many travelers, who are able to sit amongst the falls and experience a natural massage.

Kanto Lampo Waterfall Price (Per Person)

15,000 rupiah ($1.05 USD)

Kanto Lampo Waterfall: Know Before You Go

If you choose to adventure to Kanto Lampo Waterfall, I suggest leaving most of your belongings locked inside your motorbike or in your vehicle. With the swarms of people, you wouldn’t want any of your valuables to disappear.

The Wrap-Up: Bali Waterfalls

Escape the tourist traps and overpopulated beach clubs and find 31 of the most magical Bali waterfalls scattered throughout the island.

From the northern jungles near Singaraja to just outside of Ubud city center, there are waterfalls waiting to be explored at every turn. Use the tips above to construct your Bali road trip, centered around these unparalleled and epic waterfalls.
