Magic Ears Hours & Time Charts

Before you startteaching with Magic Ears, I’m sure you’re curious about the teaching hours. When are you able to actually teach?

In this guide, you’ll learn everything you need to know about teaching hours including convenient conversion charts based on your time zone.

Magic Ears Available Working Hours

While companies like VIPKID and GoGoKid offer 12+ teaching hours per day, Magic Ears has created a more efficient schedule to meet the demand of students.

To work with most kids’ school schedule, Magic Ears has teaching hours from 5pm to 9pm(Beijing Time)Monday through Friday.

Saturdays and Sundays are wide open(9am to 9pm Beijing Time)considering the students will be at home and can take classes anytime during the day.

If you’re struggling to understand how these hours convert to your time zone, check out the conversion charts below.

Magic Ears Peak Hours

Similar to other companies, Magic Ears has regular hours and peak hours. The peak hours are when students are more likely to book classes and you are more likely to be booked.

Peak hours start at 7pm Beijing Time and end at 9pm Beijing Time.

In addition,Saturdays and Sundays from 9am to 11am Beijing Time are also considered peak hours.

While it’s absolutely possible to get bookings during regular hours, you’ll be rewarded much more for opening peak hours.

Why?

Because Magic Ears wants to make sure they can cover classes for all of the students that are eager to learn during those times.

To entice teachers to open these slots, they actually give you a “peak time bonus incentive”.

Basically, you’ll earn $1 extra per class if you open 60 peak time slots each month.

Note:You’ll receive this bonus whether those 60 classes get fully booked or not, so it’s a sweet deal!

Teaching Hours – Pacific Time

Let’s be honest, it isn’t easy to be a Magic Ears teacher on the West Coast. Teaching hours range from 1am to 5am each day of the week, so hopefully you can adjust to being a night owl.

Luckily, it’s quite easy for West Coast Magic Ears teachers during Chinese New Year and summer holiday.

Instead of teaching in the early morning hours, you’ll be able to teach in the evening from 5pm or 6pm until you decide to call it a night.

Teaching Hours – Mountain Time

Similar to Pacific Time, it’s still a bit of a pain to wake up for Magic Ears classes if you live in Mountain Time Zone.

I always found it much easier to wake up for a few hours to teach, return to bed for a few hours, and then continue on with my day.

Give this a shot and see if it works for you and your schedule.

Teaching Hours – Central Time

As we move east, hours with Magic Ears get easier and easier.

You’ll still be waking up early to teach your Magic Ears classes, but not *quite* as early as you would if you were living further west.

Teaching Hours – Eastern Time

In my opinion, it’s easiest to work for Magic Ears if you’re working from the East Coast.

With that said, West Coast teachers still make it work for them, so don’t let your location hold you back.

If you’re living in Eastern Time, prepare for some early mornings, but nothing a cup of coffee can’t fix. Early risers will find this gig to be perfect for them.

Magic Ears Hours During The Summer & Holidays

Magic Ears hours change depending on the time of year.

Students in China enjoy significant time off from school two times per year: during Chinese New Year(1月/ 2月)and summer holiday(beginning of July To September 1st).

During these times, children are at home and can take Magic Ears classes anytime during the day.

Magic Ears opens their hours to accommodate these special circumstances.

So, instead of teaching from 5am to 9am(Eastern Time), you’ll be able to teach anytime from 9pm to 9am – 7 days per week.

Magic Ears Hours Frequently Asked Questions

Since the majority of people who come over to Magic Ears are also VIPKID teachers, it can be difficult to understand the difference in teaching hours.

Although they are relatively the same, there are a few changes and it can be confusing.

To assure that I’ve answered all of your questions about Magic Ears hours, here are some of the frequently asked questions about teaching with this company:

1.What Is The Maximum Number Of Hours I Can Teach For Magic Ears?

The maximum number of classes you can teach with Magic Ears depends on the time of year.

During summer holiday and Chinese New Year, Magic Ears opens up classes throughout the day, making it possible to work far beyond 40 hours per week.

When it isn’t Chinese New Year or summer holiday, the maximum number of hours you can teach with Magic Ears is 44,but keep in mind that this means you would be teaching two 12-hour days back-to-back.

Most Magic Ears’ teachers put in 20-25 hours of teaching time each week.

2.Do They Require A Minimum Number Of Teaching Hours Each Week?

Unlike other companies(Qkids, in particular), Magic Ears doesn’t require teachers to teach a minimum number of classes per week.

这使得它很容易t your own schedule and teach whenever you have time.

With that said, it’s important to note that the more classes you open, the more you’ll be booked.

Although Magic Ears books classes for the teachers rather than letting the parents book, they do favor teachers that open more classes.

That means, you are much more likely to fill your classes with students if you have an open schedule.

The best way to fill up your teaching schedule is to open as many time slots as you possibly can. As of 2021, Magic Ears is desperate for more teachers, so you’ll likely fill your slots more quickly than with other companies.

3. Can I Take Time Off?

It is definitely possible to take time off from teaching with Magic Ears. Not only do you have free rein over your schedule, but Magic Ears doesn’t require a minimum number of teaching hours.

If you’re very busy one week, take some time for yourself.

If you want to book more classes during another week, open more time slots. It is completely up to you.

In addition, you’ll love Magic Ears’ cancellation policy. They offer teachers 4 free cancellations per month, no questions asked. This is much more flexible thanVIPKID’s cancellation policy.

If you need to cancel even more classes, you can exchange your “carrots” (earned from teaching classes) for more cancellations. It’s as simple as that!

4. Will Taking Time Off Affect My Bookings?

As stated earlier, the more classes you open, the more bookings you will receive.

因此,尽管你可以尽可能多的时间like, it may affect your bookings slightly when you decide to continue teaching.

However, this likely won’t last long because the more classes you open, the more you’ll be favored.

So, after returning from taking some time off, keep opening as many Magic Ears hours as you can to see your schedule return to normal.
